Huawei Solar, Luna2000 Battery, and 50A EV Charger: A Field Checklist

Where to install EV charger in garage sounds like a simple question. It isn’t. The best-looking wall spot can be the worst electrical choice.

For a 50a EV charger, follow this mini-checklist:

  1. Check the panel first. A 50A charger needs a dedicated 50A two-pole breaker and enough panel capacity. According to NFPA 70 (NEC), an EV branch circuit must be dedicated to a single vehicle (NEC 625.40).

  5. Keep it off the floor. Garage floors get washed. Wall-mounting the 50A EV charger at 24–36 inches from the floor keeps connections out of flood risk—even a small spill can cause trouble.

In a 2024 project, a client had already poured a new garage slab before anyone checked the meter feed. The meter was on the far side of the house, so the 50A EV charger needed a 140-foot conduit run through three walls. The added cost? $3,100. It wasn’t the charger that was expensive; it was the location.

Step 5: Price the Luna2000 system, not just the battery module

A solar + storage + EV charger project isn’t done when the lights turn on. It’s done when the owner knows how to use it. We use a simple handover list:

  • Provide a one-page shutdown procedure in an emergency.
  • Leave part numbers and firmware versions in the cabinet.
