After all those mistakes, our checklist has three non-negotiable items:
- Inverter and storage must be designed for each other, either from the same manufacturer or with tested third-party integration.
- Remote monitoring and firmware update capability is part of the minimum spec, not an optional extra.
- The service plan must include local support or fast factory support, because downtime is the real cost.
Does this mean buying the most expensive option every time? No. But it does mean not cutting corners on the two components that define the customer's experience: the inverter and the battery.
